New Alberta Research Initiatives (2013-2014)

The Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF), Alberta has launched exciting new Alberta research initiatives: the New Investigator Awards and Seed Grants. An extensive consultation with our research community led to the development of these initiatives which will continue to build Alberta’s research capacity in collaboration with universities and other partners in the province. Award notificationswill be confirmed by August, 2014.

New Investigator Awards

The Alberta New Investigator Awards aim to provide outstanding Alberta investigators in their early careers with the opportunity to establish research programs and build teams.

Applications for the HSF Alberta New Investigator Award must be received  no later than January 10, 2014 by 16:00 EDT at the following address:

Important Notification:
Alberta researchers who applied for the Fall, 2013 HSF New Investigator Competition, can submit an application for the 2014 Alberta New Investigator Competition as per the Alberta Guidelines. The fall HSF application may constitute the Alberta application with additional information/changes provided as per the Alberta Guidelines.

Seed Grants

Seed Grants provide funding support to new investigators in Alberta to conduct research which will lay the groundwork for new and highly competitive applications to be submitted to provincial and national peer-review competitions. In 2013-2014,HSF, Alberta will fund one Jessica Kerber Stroke Research Seed Grant for the best rated proposal, dedicated to stroke prevention and treatment.   

Applications for the HSF Alberta Seed Grant must be received no later than  March 14, 2014by 16:00 MDT at the following address:
