Palliative and End of Life Care: New Emerging Team Grants - Competition Results 2004

We are pleased to announce the results of the competition (see table below) under the strategic initiative 'Palliative and End of Life Care: New Emerging Team Grants'. Support for this initiative is being shared by CIHR's Institute of Cancer (ICR), Institute of Aging (IA), Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH), Institute of Gender and Health (IGH), Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR), Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH), Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction (INMHA), CIHR Knowledge Translation Branch (CIHR-KT), Alberta Cancer Board (ACB), BC Cancer Agency (BCCA), and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC).

New Emerging Team grants are intended to support the creation or development of teams comprised of investigators undertaking collaborative, multidisciplinary research. The program is designed to promote the formation of new research teams or the growth of small existing teams of researchers in the area of palliative and end of life care.
A total of 17 applications were submitted to the New Emerging Team Grants in February 2004. Applications were reviewed by an ad hoc peer review committee, resulting in nine applications being approved for funding (success rate of 53%).
